the wish list

Everything these days, from our workplaces to closets, seem to have an almost informal (aka lazy, somewhat trashy generation) feel to them. Perhaps this is why we are so capitivated by shows and movies that take place in the past. Mad Men, The Tudors, and most recently, Boardwalk Empire are set in worlds of mystery and power which we find most intoxicating. We will admit our latest obsession, Boardwalk Empire, could be in (large) part to the endless hats, sequined dresses, and fur coats on display. Oh and a man in a suit is just so damn attractive. Mmmm.... anyway, without further adieu, we give you our latest wish list addition, inspired by the fabulous flappers of the wild prohibition days:

And for your dearest homemaker, we love the idea of finding a local artist and giving her a one of a kind, handmade vase or platter.  You know she will do the artist justice by showing it off perfectly. We love the Lost Art Salon, Tina Frey Designs, and Michael Szabo in San Francisco.

the celebrity style list

It’s holiday party time (we each have 3 this week alone!), and while we would LOVE to go out and buy a brand new outfit for each one, we have to leave a little something in our wallets for other great outfits.. er presents for other people... Alexis Bledel rocks the one shoulder, ruffle, bronze lame dress.  But, let’s be realistic, most of us would look like we came straight out of the 80s with that gem on.  So, we are going to tame it down a bit. Most important thing? Buy pieces you will wear after the party!

Every bronze article of clothing we found has been paired with black. For the sexy bronze dresses, we say tights, black heels, and a black clutch. For the skirts, we recommend a black shirt (depending on the kind of work party it can be anything from a black v-neck tee to a blouse), tights and black heels. Feel free to mix textures like our fave Olivia Palermo. And for our personal favorite- for the amazing sparkly t-shirt (honestly want to go buy that immediately!)- pair it with your classic black pants, and sky high heels just like Drew Barrymore.  The finishing touch-- blood red nails. I can’t get enough of OPI "Sample Sale" at Sephora...

Here’s the list:

1.  skirt: forever 21, foil pattern mini, $11
2.  dress: zara, lame tube dress, $59.90
3.  dress: revolve clothing, BOBI sparkle scoop back dress, $61
4.  skirt: express, foiled lace mini skirt, $49.90
5.  skirt: ann taylor, metallic lace skirt, $90
6.  top: dillard’s, sequined tee, $145
7.  clutch: forever 21, embossed snake skin clutch, $18
8.  nailpolish: sephora, OPI, Sample Sale, $9

the wish list

We kind of feel like it is meant to be: our very first clothing wish list post is about the Oscar de la Renta pre-fall 2011 collection. From the sparkly tweed, to the ladylike silhouettes, to the fur, there is nothing we don't love!  Below are a few of our personal favorites, but let's be honest, we would gladly take it all!  Best believe there will be quite a few outfits inspired by this latest flawless collection.
